You can spend your entire life trying to “earn” your salvation through good deeds, attending church, and following rules. But the truth is that there is only one way to secure eternal life, and that is through a relationship with Jesus.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
So you see, God loves YOU! So much so that he sent his Son to live on earth as a human, experiencing human trials and pain, and to ultimately die on a cross for YOUR sins!
Everyone sins and falls short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). To sin means to disobey God and do things your own way. Everyone has done this. Romans 3:10 tells us that “There is no one righteous, not even one.”
Unfortunately, this sin creates a barrier between people and God (Isaiah 59:2). It prevents people from having a close relationship with their Heavenly Father.
People often think they can fix this by working harder and doing better. But it’s important to know that there is nothing that you can DO on your own to fix this broken relationship with God (Ephesians 2:8-9). You may be the “nicest and sweetest” person on earth and never make it into Heaven.
That’s where the good news—the really GREAT news– comes in. Jesus died to remove the barrier that your sin has created between you and God. Jesus took on the punishment for your sin and for everyone’s sin so that we can all have a renewed relationship with our Heavenly Father. We don’t have to worry about our sin because Jesus paid our debt! (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 6:23; John 14:6)
All we need to do as Christians is to have faith in Jesus, trusting that through Him our sin has been forgiven (John 14:6). We are called to repent—exhibit genuine sorrow for our sin and to turn away from sin and try to live a life pleasing to God by following Christ’s example.
9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. – Romans 10:9-10
If you would like to receive this precious and gracious gift, all you need to do is pray and admit to God that you are a sinner. Express sincere sorrow for your transgressions and ask Him for forgiveness. Ask Jesus to come into your heart as your Lord and Savior and commit yourself to living a life pleasing to Him.
We are here for you! If you would like to talk, or if you have any questions please don’t be afraid to ask. We desire to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus.
