Serve Someone Who Serves You

It’s that time again – time to make a difference! Happy Make A Difference Monday everybody! For those of you who may not know what Make A Difference Monday is, you can read all about it here.

This week we want you to think about the people who serve you on a regular basis. We’re talking about the waitress who brings you your food, the postal worker who brings you your mail, the police officer who keeps you safe and the list could go on.

You probably don’t even realize how many people serve you on a regular basis.

Did you know that Jesus was a servant? In fact, He provided you with the greatest service anyone could ever give.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45

“But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.” – Luke 22: 26-27

Jesus even washed His disciples’ feet as an example of servitude for us. He was serving those who served Him. We are called to follow His example.

So, this week’s challenge is to do something special for someone who serves you. No, you don’t have to wash their feet! (That would be pretty awkward!) The idea is to brighten their day and to let them know they are appreciated and their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Let’s share the love of Christ this week by letting others know that what they do matters!
